AYDEN'S UPDATES

Ayden's family wanted to keep a blog for family members and friends to be able to have the latest status of his progression at the hospital. On August 1st, the family was out in the yard and soon noticed Ayden was missing and was discovered by Aubrey in the above ground pool. Caryn pulled him out and was able to resuscitate him thru CPR and he had a pulse and was breathing as the medics took him away in the ambulance to the hospital. He is currently at St. Lukes downtown Boise. We will try to update on a daily basis or as something significant happens. We also are so very thankful to everyone for your love, prayers, fasting and all the support you have given to the Rich family and extended family at this time.

Friday 11:00

Dr. McConnell came in this morning and said that the x-ray of Ayden's lungs showed that they were looking a little better and they are going to watch them today and depending on the way Ayden responds to the breathing machine will determine whether or not they need to increase the treatment a little more in hopes of preventing further lung damage. There is a strong possibility of another blood transfusion for tomorrow to help oxygenate his blood some more. The doctor continues to remind us that just because we are having to take the time to fight this infection does not mean that this is having any sort of an impeding affect on Ayden neurologically. He continues to feel very good and positive in what he sees in Ayden's responses to any sort of stimulation or his examinations. He said that he believes that Ayden is hearing us and being responsive and feels very encouraged by that and continues to hope for a good outcome. With the discussion this morning, he also felt that his level of physical therapy will be minimal, just enough to help get his muscles in gear after having been lying down for so many days.

This morning the respiratory therapist came in to turn Ayden on his stomach. This is the first time that he has been able to be on his stomach since being admitted. While he was being turned, Ayden lifted his arm up and put it on the RT's shoulder and started pushin him away and then with control, layed his arm back down. While Caryn was taking a shower this morning Grandma Donna got to see Ayden lift his head up off of his pillow and turn it to the otherside. Yeah!

The nurses feel that having Ayden on his stomach will be helpful in getting more secretions out of his lungs. They have also removed his ART line which is the line they use to check is blood oxygenation levels as well as take his blood for tests. Caryn is especially glad to not have to look at that.
