AYDEN'S UPDATES

Ayden's family wanted to keep a blog for family members and friends to be able to have the latest status of his progression at the hospital. On August 1st, the family was out in the yard and soon noticed Ayden was missing and was discovered by Aubrey in the above ground pool. Caryn pulled him out and was able to resuscitate him thru CPR and he had a pulse and was breathing as the medics took him away in the ambulance to the hospital. He is currently at St. Lukes downtown Boise. We will try to update on a daily basis or as something significant happens. We also are so very thankful to everyone for your love, prayers, fasting and all the support you have given to the Rich family and extended family at this time.

Thursday morning!

Here are a few fun pictures we just took.
Ayden is doing so well.
Ayden just had another vest treatment but Caryn was able to hold him during that. As expected Ayden's voice will be quite sore but is already trying speaking quietly to ask for things. During his vest treatment he was saying "bye, bye". Guess he's getting ready to get out of here. He is full energy when awake, a bit fiesty, but we are excited to see him so alert. His muscles are quite weak right now. Physical therapists will be in to help him get things going again. Doctors and nurses say that it will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for his body to wean off all of the sedation medications. He is showing great signs in all areas!
Ayden with mom and dad!

Ayden with his peepers open a little bit.
Caryn holding Ayden for the first time-a long awaited moment!

Ayden started mouthing, "mommy, mommy" and then asked her for some water.

These are what they call "no-no's" and are put on both of his arms to prevent him from bending his elbows and grabbing at his feeding and oxygen tubes. Chad is kickin' himself for not being the inventor of these!

This morning brought wonderful news. At 7:45, Ayden's sedative was turned off and within the hour the doctor extubated him. We are so thrilled to finally have this day come to us! What a great blessing.

This is our sweet, little Ayden working his hardest to recover. This was before he was extubated.
The loving touch of his mother.
