We feel so encouraged tonight. At about 7 pm, the nurses came in to reposition his little body and Ayden and was rather agitated by this. He started kickin his legs and moving his arms-- not just slight little movements but enough that he had to be restrained. He opened his eyes a little bit. Caryn held up his favorite monkey blanket and asked him, "Is this your monkey blanket?" and he responded by slightly turning his head towards Caryn and nodded. All who were there to witness this were crying tears of great joy and relief. What huge miracles we are seeing.
Dr. McConnell came in later this evening and said that tomorrow at 3 am, they will start weaning him off of his sedation medication in preparation for extubating him later in the day. He still has the fluid in his lungs and that is being watched closely. They have been giving him proteins and fats, which help give him more nutrients=strength. If everything goes smoothly after being extubated then Caryn and Chad will be able to start feeding him. The doctor didn't feel that either the EEG or a transfusion were necessary. His lungs are doing great and they have switched him to a different sort of breathing therapy that has Ayden working harder at breathing on his own. He has made HUGE progress today. Dr. McConnell felt that all of these things were very positive.
We are so grateful to the many prayers that are being said and answered in Ayden's behalf. Thank you so much to all for your love and concern.
AYDEN'S UPDATES
Ayden's family wanted to keep a blog for family members and friends to be able to have the latest status of his progression at the hospital. On August 1st, the family was out in the yard and soon noticed Ayden was missing and was discovered by Aubrey in the above ground pool. Caryn pulled him out and was able to resuscitate him thru CPR and he had a pulse and was breathing as the medics took him away in the ambulance to the hospital. He is currently at St. Lukes downtown Boise. We will try to update on a daily basis or as something significant happens. We also are so very thankful to everyone for your love, prayers, fasting and all the support you have given to the Rich family and extended family at this time.
