Today the main objective for Ayden is to give him consistent medications to help with weaning him off of the pain medication and the sedatives. This is something that may take several days to possibly weeks. It is also something that needs to be done gradually to help keep Adyen comfortable. He continues to do a great job of coughing and working out that little bit of fluid that he still has in his lungs.
Caryn is holding him in the rocking chair right now. He loves being held and loves for you to hold his hands. These things are very comforting to him. This will be a routine thing for Ayden for the next little while-being held in a chair. He is expected to be released from PICU to the other side of the pediatric floor either today but most likely tomorrow.
Ayden is still quite weak and fragile but you can see him becoming a little bit stronger from just the beginning of the day to the end. As mentioned earlier he still has the fluid in his lungs and his heart is a bit enlarged from the initial trauma. He is running a bit of a mild fever but the nurse just gave him some Tylenol.
It is so great to be able to talk to Ayden and have him understand and respond and to see his eyes open. He just told Caryn that he wanted to go bye bye. Can you blame him? What HUGE blessings that we are indeed so grateful for!
AYDEN'S UPDATES
Ayden's family wanted to keep a blog for family members and friends to be able to have the latest status of his progression at the hospital. On August 1st, the family was out in the yard and soon noticed Ayden was missing and was discovered by Aubrey in the above ground pool. Caryn pulled him out and was able to resuscitate him thru CPR and he had a pulse and was breathing as the medics took him away in the ambulance to the hospital. He is currently at St. Lukes downtown Boise. We will try to update on a daily basis or as something significant happens. We also are so very thankful to everyone for your love, prayers, fasting and all the support you have given to the Rich family and extended family at this time.
