AYDEN'S UPDATES

Ayden's family wanted to keep a blog for family members and friends to be able to have the latest status of his progression at the hospital. On August 1st, the family was out in the yard and soon noticed Ayden was missing and was discovered by Aubrey in the above ground pool. Caryn pulled him out and was able to resuscitate him thru CPR and he had a pulse and was breathing as the medics took him away in the ambulance to the hospital. He is currently at St. Lukes downtown Boise. We will try to update on a daily basis or as something significant happens. We also are so very thankful to everyone for your love, prayers, fasting and all the support you have given to the Rich family and extended family at this time.

Tuesday 11:45am

While waiting for the doctor to come in this morning Ayden started stirring a little bit. A fire truck went by with it's loud sirens going. Caryn asked Adyen if that was a fire truck and he nodded and was really trying to open his eyes.

They have just decided to change the oxygen treatment for Ayden. This will make it so Ayden will be taking breaths on his own.

They are working on taking him off of his paralytic and hoping to just keep him on an as needed basis of the sedation medication, which is still a frequent need for Ayden. It is great to see him so much more "active" but again that activity has to be controlled to help in his recovery.

The nurses just took out Ayden's catheter which is nice to have one less thing hooked up to him. They will keep a close eye on him to make sure his bladder wants to continue to work on it's own. With the sedation medications and just lying there can slow things down a bit but they felt good about removing the catheter.

They are hooking him up to the vest again right now to shake up some more secretions. His
x-ray looked even better today. Yeah! They are putting him on an additional antibiotic to help wipe out whatever kind of bacteria is growing.

The doctor said that Ayden is on "cruise control" for a good recovery. He is starting to do all the right things and showing improvement. Way to go Ayden! Dr. Christensen said it will be a boring, good day. We are happy with that. The nurses, doctors, and RT's are amazing. We appreciate how they do their jobs with so much compassion and love. They certainly have helped bring us peace with all that they are doing.
