Dr. Christiansen just came in and did an examination on Ayden. It's a once a day exam of this type of "invasiveness" He checked his eyes and reflexes and pinched and poked at him. Ayden squirmed and did things that the doctor felt encouraged by. He felt like things were pretty good but is still being cautious. He would like to see Ayden a bit more alert but they have also put him back on a continuous drip of sedatives as well as one on an as needed basis. They are working to keep a good, careful balance on these. These things obviously make him quite sleepy and Caryn says, "when that boy is tired, he is out!!" Because of having such a traumatic brain injury will also contribute to his sleepiness. The oxygen level has been increased a little bit more just to help make things a little easier for Ayden but not so much that Ayden doesn't have to work hard, too. The doctor feels the best thing for Ayden is to keep him on the respirator for at least a few more days in hopes that his pneumonia will go away
The doctor feels it is best to make sure that Ayden is in a peaceful and quiet environment. He says to not overstimulate him but just to hold has hand and talk softly to him and even read books to him.
AYDEN'S UPDATES
Ayden's family wanted to keep a blog for family members and friends to be able to have the latest status of his progression at the hospital. On August 1st, the family was out in the yard and soon noticed Ayden was missing and was discovered by Aubrey in the above ground pool. Caryn pulled him out and was able to resuscitate him thru CPR and he had a pulse and was breathing as the medics took him away in the ambulance to the hospital. He is currently at St. Lukes downtown Boise. We will try to update on a daily basis or as something significant happens. We also are so very thankful to everyone for your love, prayers, fasting and all the support you have given to the Rich family and extended family at this time.

Caryn, just hang a banana from the ceiling above his bed. That will catch his attention. Hang in there little buddy! We love you all.
