The last 24 hrs have been the best so far for little Ayden. He has been off of the sedation medication since around 7am. He has opened his eyes several times for us now, even though they seem so heavy and its still hard for him to do. We sang "popcorn popping" and he really responded to that, opening his eyes, making faces and moving around quite a bit. He has really been trying to get his breathing and feeding tubes out, so his arms are still tied down. They are still weaning his body off of all the different medications he was on so it makes him shake a little when he has withdrawals, which can take at least 24hrs. The Dr. and nurses are hopeful to move on with the extubation with in the next 24 to 48 hrs. Ayden will be really happy about this as well since he tries so much to reach up for it and yank it out himself.
Soon we hope to update with some of the pictures and videos we have been taking of his progress. Its great to compare pictures from the beginning to now and see the progression. He looks so much better today with most of the swelling gone.
We are so thankful for your continued prayers and support. Our family feels so encouraged and even more so in the last day or so especially when we can see little Aydens beautiful blue eyes.
Oh baby yeah!!!! I am so excited to see you. I am crying because I am so happy to hear this news!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful new! It was great reading your blog this morning and knowing that all the prayers on Ayden's behalf are getting answered.
ReplyDeleteYou are continually in my prayers here in Fiji.

We started the day at 7:20a.m. in the St. George Temple. I have felt a calmness today that hasn't been around for a long time. Your Dad talked with Laura and Janet this morning and we found out about Ayden's mouthing the words to "Popcorn Popping" while you were singing to him. This is so exciting! The missionaries at the Visitor's Center were as excited as we are. (It's been a great support system!) Our prayers too will continue that the extubation takes place soon. He'll be so much more confortable. What a terrific day!
