AYDEN'S UPDATES

Ayden's family wanted to keep a blog for family members and friends to be able to have the latest status of his progression at the hospital. On August 1st, the family was out in the yard and soon noticed Ayden was missing and was discovered by Aubrey in the above ground pool. Caryn pulled him out and was able to resuscitate him thru CPR and he had a pulse and was breathing as the medics took him away in the ambulance to the hospital. He is currently at St. Lukes downtown Boise. We will try to update on a daily basis or as something significant happens. We also are so very thankful to everyone for your love, prayers, fasting and all the support you have given to the Rich family and extended family at this time.

(Sunday night/early monday)

Ayden has been in the PICU for over 24 hrs. He has shown great progress, and the doctor feels very hopeful.
He has gone from needing nearly 100% assisted breathing to down to 25%.

At 7:00 a.m. on the third, they are planning to begin the wake up process out of his paralyzed state, so that they can bring his temp. back up from the low 90's. This will be a total of 36 hours of this cooling state, and he has been sedated as well to try to help his brain as much a possible. We still will not know how everything will be neurologically, and as far as brain activity, we still know nothing, except that he has tried to reach up to pull out his breathing tube and other things, so that is a good sign. With each chest X-ray the Dr's have done have continued to show improvement. We are told that when he is able to move around more this should help his lungs to clear any water that may be left over. The Dr's say that his breathing tube will probably be in for a couple more days and to expect to be in the hospital for 10 days.
Again, Ayden's family has been constantly amazed by the overwhelming show of love and support from family and friends and those that they haven't even met! It means the world to know that so many are praying in behalf of sweet Ayden, and to see that these prayers have helped perform miracles that continue as this is being blogged.
